Sam & Sam's Wedding

The first of ten beautiful weddings I captured on Salt Spring Island in 2024.

Wedding Day Magic to the Rescue

The union of Sam and Sam(antha), two beautiful souls, was a small but very special wedding. It had been a stormy, grey, rainy day leading up to the ceremony. Serendipitously, the skies opened up right on cue as everyone was heading outside for the ceremony, and the sun shone through for us. (Interestingly, this sudden clearing of skies right on time has been a trend with more than a few weddings and sessions that I've had scheduled.) I had my camera's rain cover on and ready, but happily tossed it aside with no need for it.

A Deeply Touching Ceremony

This Salt Spring wedding goes down in my books as one of the most emotional weddings I have photographed. My heartstrings were tugged something serious at the vows between these two, and then the beautiful inclusion of their son/step-son into the ceremony, gifting him with a special memento to wear around his neck after the rings were placed on fingers. It makes me so happy to see when such care is put into making sure the children know they are wanted and considered as part of the new family unit. It was clear that the youngster was deeply moved by the gesture and the words bestowed on him to assure him he was an important part of the day, and their family's life together. I was for sure snapping through my own teary eyes during this ceremony.

Better Together

After the proverbial knot was tied and the ceremony complete, along with posed family photos, we split away from the rest of the wedding group. We captured some images of the newly official family trio (or rather quartet as they were expecting a new baby), and then newlywed couple together.

One of the newlywed's father's had a classic car that they had in mind to take photos with. I very much enjoyed the chance to play with a style that felt slightly more vintage than my typical way of editing for these photos.

2025 Salt Spring Island Wedding Photography

I'm hopeful I can create blog posts for each of the weddings I photographed on Salt Spring Island last year, but (as we all know) life has a way of filling up. We'll see how I do with that goal before the 2025 wedding season gets started. I have a bunch of beautiful celebrations already on the book, on Salt Spring Island and elsewhere in the Southern Gulf Islands, that I am very excited to capture. So here's to a fantastic year ahead, and maybe - just maybe - I'll be able to get out a few more posts to share the weddings and other memorable sessions I've had the pleasure of snapping last year.

If you'd like to book an wedding, event, or another type of session with me, I invite you to have a look at my portfolio and check out my booking site for more details. If you think I may be the right photographer for you, I'd love for you to contact me.

Best wishes in creating all your future memories!
